There were mixed fortunes on Thursday night at the Primary School All Star matches with the East and West each winning a game as the three games postponed last Saturday were completed at the National Sports Centre.

The West were comfortable 5-2 winners over the East in the primary school girls match while the East boys won an entertaining primary schools match 3-1.The Blue team were 3-2 victors in the middle school girls game.

Avani Patton led the primary West girls in their win, the diminutive Saltus Grammar forward earning herself the most valauble players honours with a hat-trick for the winners. Calae Young Gibbons of Gilbert Institute added an outstanding long range goal while Saltus’s Brooke Castree added the fifth.

The East got goals from Ja’Shay Trott of Harrington Sound and Eva Tuzo from St George’s Preparatory. Mount Saint Agnes goalkeeper Taya Rodrigues was named MVP for the East.

In the boys match, the West took the lead early in the game with a fine effort from Blayz Borgesson. The Gilbert Institute forward beat the East goalkeeper with a low shot from just inside the box.

The East were soon on level terms through Kydan Browne when the Mount Saint Agnes player scored directly from a long range free kick.

Somersfield Academy’s Masaki Kitade put the East ahead minutes later when he was the first to pounce on a rebound to steer the ball home.

The West created many chances in the second-half but were continuously denied by MVP Jai Simmons of Prospect Primary in the East goal.

St George’s Prep’s Azende put the game out of reach when he made no mistake by beating the goalkeeper after breaking free on goal.

The West MVP was Syhon Goater of Paget Primary.

In the final match, the Blues beat the Reds 3-2 in a see-saw middle schools girls game.

The Blue team took the lead in the 11th minute when Warwick Academy’s Ashley Dasilva turned Jahni Simmons’s cross into the net.

Ramiah Brangman of Saltus equalised for the Red team before Simmons, from Whitney Institute, regained the lead for the Blue team.

The Red team once again equalised through a fine effort from Azari Easton of Dellwood Middle school.

The match was settled in the last few minutes when Saltus’s Sydney Fischer scored from outside the box to secure an exciting win.

Brangman and DaSilva were named the MVPs for their respective teams.
