Rangers and Eagles on verge of promotion
Southampton Rangers are just a point away from promotion, and Somerset Eagles are now sure to join them after scoring two late goals at Wellington Oval to beat Hamilton Parish 2-1.
The loss was a major blow to Parish’s promotion hopes, already trailing Eagles by ten points with six games remaining going into the weekend. They took the lead through Shayne Hollis and were minutes away from a victory when Eagles equalised in the 85th and then scored the winner four minutes into added time to protect their unbeaten record in the league.
Substitutes Cofield Robinson and Tahj Wade scored for Eagles. Rangers, idle this weekend, are now all but certain to claim the first promotion spot as Parish can only finish level on 41 points.
St David’s beat Wolves 4-2 at Garrison Field yesterday. Kontai Burton scored in the 20th and 32nd minutes for St David’s and Justin Pitcher and Jamel Woodley added two more goals in the second half.
Wolves had taken the lead through Matthew Mello-Cann before Stephen Almeida added their second to make it 2-2 at the half.
Kurtis Minors, of St David’s, was sent off late in the second half for violent conduct before Wolves’ Javon Minors was issued a red card in the 89th minute.
St George’s beat Young Men’s Social Club 1-0 at Police Field with the lone goal coming from Jahkai Brangman. Flanagan’s Onions drew 1-1 with Devonshire Colts at Goose Gosling Field, Charles Trott scoring for Colts before Treshun Smith equalised.
Vasco and Ireland Rangers played to a 0-0 draw at Bernard Park.
Jonathan Bean, of Rangers, was sent off in the 70th minute for a second booking.
