Dandy Town capped off their second-half resurgence with a dominant performance, as they hit Trojans for six at St John’s Field yesterday.

Angelo Simmons, came into the match in contention for golden boot honours and did his chances of claiming that title a world of good, scoring Dandy Town’s last four goals of the game.

Trevin Ming netted an own goal and Diion Millett also found the net, while Shaquille Bean helped Somerset avoid the shutout when he converted from the penalty spot.

With third place already secured for Town and Somerset already relegated, both teams were rather lethargic in their approach. In the fifteenth minute a Damon Ming cross came off the top of Trevin Ming’s head and looped into the net.

The goal seemed to spring the home team into life, and within three minutes they had found a second through Millet.

The midfielder put the finishing touches to a hard, low cross from Kwame Steede after a goalmouth scramble.

Simmons eventually opened his account in the 34th minute when he received a pass inside the box and beat the goalkeeper with a toe poke at the near post.

Town took the momentum into the second half and almost had a fourth within five minutes of the restart, but Seion Darrell’s volley from the edge of the box went just wide of the upright.

Moments later Simmons dribbled down the right side of the box, cut in on his defender and rifled the ball into the roof of the net.

Although the game was now out of reach, Somerset continued to play and were eventually rewarded with a penalty from a collision between the goalkeeper and striker.

Goalkeeper Bean was more than willing to run the length of the field to take the penalty, which he struck firmly to the goalkeeper’s right.

The goal was nothing more than a consolation as ten minutes later, Simmons would complete his hat-trick with a shot from the edge of the box that found the bottom corner.

Simmons missed an opportunity in the 80th minute when he lobbed over the goal with only the goalkeeper to beat.

He made no mistake in the 88th minute, however, when he was played in by substitute Jhazii Johnson and finished neatly under the goalkeeper.
