Lewis nets from corner kick
Zeiko Lewis scored directly from a corner kick in Charleston Battery’s 1-1 draw at home to Atlanta United 2 in the USL Championship on Saturday.
The Bermuda winger curled in a left-footed corner which beat Brendon Moore, the Atlanta goalkeeper, at his near post in the 79th minute to cancel out Laurent Kissiediu’s 71st-minute opener.
“I’ve scored goals like that before,” Lewis told the Charleston Battery website. “Our game plan was to challenge the goalkeeper from our corners and that’s what I tried to do.
“We put two guys on the near post in front of him and it gave him trouble.”
Charleston Battery are ninth in the table with 17 points in the 11 games.
Lewis, 24, joined Charleston from Icelandic top-flight side HK Kopavogs and spent the end of last season on loan with FH.
