Rawlins fails to add to overnight score
Delray Rawlins failed to add to his overnight score of 56 as Sussex trailed Durham by 152 runs on first innings of their Specsavers County Championship match at the 1st Century County Ground yesterday.
Rawlins was bowled on the first ball he faced on the third day as Sussex were dismissed for 232. Durham, who scored 384 in their first innings, put on 284 for three before declaring their second innings with an overall lead of 436.
Rawlins, who took three for 19 from six overs in the first innings for his best first-class bowling figures, was wicketless in the second innings after giving up 47 runs in ten overs.
Durham had Sussex in early trouble in the second innings, chasing 437 for victory. Opener Luke Wells and Harry Finch departed early before a third-wicket stand of 55 steadied things for Sussex.
However, there was one more setback for the home team as Will Beer was trapped leg before for 36 on the last ball of the penultimate over.
Sussex are 59 for three, with 378 runs needed for victory with a day remaining.
