Nahki Wells was again at the double in Park Rangers’ 2-1 victory away to Millwall to lift the club into the Sky Bet Championship play-off places, with a fourth-straight success.

Having struck twice in the 3-2 victory over Luton Town last weekend, the Bermuda striker, on loan from Premier League side Burnley, continued his fine early-season form, grabbing his fifth and six goals of the campaign.

Wells opened the scoring after 56 minutes, pouncing on a loose ball on the edge of the area to rifle a left-footed effort into the bottom-left corner.

Despite dominating much of the proceedings, QPR were pegged back in the 71st minute when Shane Ferguson’s inswinging free-kick from the left-hand side caused a goalmouth scramble, with Shaun Hutchinson stabbing the ball home.

However, just a minute later, Wells was gifted the opportunity to grab his second from an awful mistake by Millwall goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.

The Polish custodian failed to deal with a deep ball forward, allowing the alert Wells to nip in, steal the ball off his toes and roll the ball calmly into an empty net.

Despite being on a hat-trick, Wells was substituted in the 77th minute, as QPR held firm for the remainder of the match, including a daunting five minutes of added time to claim another welcome three points and continue their upward trajectory.

QPR are in a three-way tie on 16 points with Preston North End and West Bromwich Albion, just one point behind joint leaders Leeds and Swansea who both drew on Saturday.

QPR will play West Brom in a televised game this Saturday.

Another Bermuda forward, Justin Donawa, also got on the scoresheet, scoring his first goal for non-league Darlington who beat Trafford FC 3-1 away in the FA Cup preliminary second round.

After Stephen Thompson and Adam Campbell scored for Darlington in the 37th and 67th minutes, Donawa came off the bench to score the third goal in the 87th minute, a firm header from a cross on the left, for his first goal of the season. He had two earlier efforts saved by the goalkeeper.

Reggie Lambe played the whole 90 minutes in Cambridge United’s 1-0 home defeat to Swindon, picking up a 40th minute booking for a bad tackle. Swindon’s winner came in the 27th minute.

Another Bermuda player, Jonté Smith, came on as a 90th-minute substitute as Cheltenham won 2-0 away to Plymouth Argyle. Luke Varney scored in the 40th minute and Will Aimson in stoppage time to give Cheltenham the points.
