Nahki Wells achieved another career milestone in Queens Park Rangers victory away to Millwall in the Sky Bet Championship at the weekend.

The Bermudian striker netted both of the visitors goals in the 2-1 victory, marking the first time he has scored back-to-back braces in English football.

“To do that is a great feeling and I’m just riding the wave of the confidence and that momentum of being in a good space mentally and physically,” Wells said. “I’m just trying to do what I know I’m best at, which is to ultimately score goals and having an impact on the game from a tactical perspective of course.

“What makes it even better is the fact it is a hat-trick of braces.

“I scored the two for Bermuda against Panama [Concacaf Nations League] which was equally very important.

“It was an historic win for ourselves and to have had a big influence is always a great feeling.”

Wells’s other brace was in a 3-2 victory over Luton Town the previous weekend.

The striker, who is on loan from Premier League side Burnley, is the first QPR player in more than nine years to score two or more goals in successive league outings.

“To be one of the only players to have done so in many years goes to show you how difficult it is at this level to score, of course, and score doubles in successive games,” he added. “I’m really proud to do so and delighted to be scoring goals regularly.”

Wells’s prolific form has created a huge buzz among QPR supporters who have been singing his name in praise.

“They always kind of sang for me and praised me,” Wells said. “I think it just gives added encouragement to be doing very well in a short space of time and I’ve had a lot of success in front of goal.

“These things do happen in football and the fans get behind you, but I think they can see that desire, that hunger that I kind of have a point to prove.

“I want to show them the real me which they were only able to see in spurts last season and, hopefully, they can see that on a far more regular bases.

“I just want to do the best I can and the fans I know for sure are behind me.”

QPR’s victory over Millwall was their fourth league win on the trot and the first time they have achieved the feat in five seasons.

“To have four wins in a streak is always a great thing,” Wells added. “It just goes to show what direction we are moving in and the credit the manager [Mark Warburton] deserves and the players for executing everything what we put into practice throughout the week.

“We are in a good place and long may that continue.

“We are not going to win every game, of course. But we are in a good place and that winning mentality is becoming habitual so long may that continue.”
