Wells nets in QPR draw

QPR forward Nahki Wells

Nahki Wells scored a goal and created another as Queens Park Rangers missed the chance to move up to second in the Sky Bet Championship after drawing 2-2 at home to Reading last night.

Wells opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a shot from just outside the box for his eighth of the season.

Reading equalised two minutes later through George Puscas before QPR regained the lead in the 58th minute when Jordan Hugill collected a headed pass from Wells to score with a shot from outside the area.

QPR moved up to fourth in the table, three points behind leaders West Bromwich Albion, who came from 2-0 down to draw away to Barnsley.

Jonté Smith had a hand in Cheltenham’s third goal as they beat Macclesfield 3-0 to move up to second place in League Two.

Smith came on as a 71st minute substitute for Luke Varney, who opened the scoring in the 45th minute.

The Bermudian set up Ryan Broom to score Cheltenham’s third goal and secure a win that moves them two points behind leaders Crewe Alexander, who drew 0-0 with Colchester. Cheltenham are second in the table.

Reggie Lambe’s Cambridge United drew 0-0 at home to Grimsby Town to remain eleventh place in League Two.
