Colts and Vasco flying high

Lashun Dill scored for St George’s

Four First Division teams are making an early push for promotion with Devonshire Colts and Vasco battling at the top for first place.

Colts beat Hamilton Parish 3-1 at Wellington Oval to hold down first place on goal difference, while Vasco also have 12 points after a 2-0 win over Ireland Rangers at Bernard Park.

Ponte opened the scoring in the sixth minute for Vasco before Lopes sealed the win with the second six minutes from the end. St George’s extended their perfect start to three wins with a 4-0 victory over Young Men’s Social Club at Wellington Oval, where Jahron Dickinson netted twice. They are also yet to concede a goal this season.

Dickinson opened the scoring in the 25th minute and then netted in the 87th minute, with further goals coming from Jahki Brangman in the 43rd and Lashun Dill in the 45th.

St George’s are level on points with Wolves, three points behind the top two but with a game in hand over Vasco and two over leaders Devonshire Colts. In the other match on Sunday, Flanagan’s Onions picked up their first win with a 2-0 victory at home to St David’s.
