Hood pour more misery on hapless Boulevard

Philip Parsons scored for Hood

Robin Hood 2 Devonshire Cougars 0

Robin Hood brushed aside Boulevard with a comfortable victory at Goose Gosling field on Saturday night.

Goals from Phillip Parsons and Che Brangman were enough to move Hood to the top of the table.

Boulevard came into the match desperately needing something to kick start their campaign, and an early goal may have been the answer. Unfortunately, Khiry Easton was not able to capitalise on a chance as he failed to connect with a ball over the top that fell in his stride in the first two minutes.

The missed attempt became even more costly when Hood midfielder Parsons, opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a well-struck volley from the top of the box that beat the Boulevard goalkeeper Jahhi Shakir to his right.

The momentum was now with the home team and they began to pick their opponents apart with good ball movement to carve out a number of opportunities.

Aaron Nelson twice dribbled his way into the box from the midfield but blazed over the bar on both occasions, Justin Corday was gifted an opportunity from a poor clearance but could not beat Shakir with his angled shot, and Brangman should have done better with a header from close range that he glanced wide of the far post.

The second half produced much of the same as Corday forced a save from Shakir immediately after the restart but Nelson was unable to finish the rebound that fell right in his path.

Brangman went close again when he was on the end of a square pass from Nelson, that he could only manage to steer onto the underside of the bar from six yards.

Boulevard, although absorbing a lot of pressure were still playing with some hope being only a goal down, but that was erased in the 65th minute when Hood finally got their second goal.

Brangman found himself in a similar position meeting a low cross from the right, and this time made no mistake as he swept his attempt into the top corner from close range.

Hood continued to dominate but poor finishing ultimately spared the blushes of a Boulevard team who find themselves in an increasingly desperate situation, sitting at the bottom of the table with no points or goals in the first five matches of the campaign.
