Lewis strikes as Battery bow out in quarters

On target: Bermuda midfielder Willie Clemons scored for Bodens

Zeiko Lewis scored a penalty in Charleston Battery’s 3-1 defeat against Nashville SC in the USL Championship Eastern Conference quarter-finals on Saturday.

Battery fell behind in the tenth minute after Lebogang Moloto netted for the home side before Lewis levelled from the spot in the 35th minute.

Daniel Armando Rios restored Nashville’s lead in the 43rd minute and Derrick Jones scored his side’s third in the 88th minute.

Willie Clemons continued his scoring form in Bodens’ 2-1 win away to Rynninge in the First Division North in Sweden yesterday.

The Bermuda midfielder, who netted twice his team’s 4-2 win over Karlstad last weekend, struck in the twelfth minute against Rynninge to level after Anderson Santos gave the home side the lead in the 62nd minute. Sylvester Simba scored Bodens’ winner in the 83rd minute.

Roger Lee played in Tallinna Kalev’s 2-1 defeat at home to Tammeka in the Estonian top flight.

Andre Paju and Tristan Koskor found the net for the visiting side, while Wale Musa Alli scored for Kalev who were reduced for ten men when Daniil Sotsugov was sent off in 80th minute. Meanwhile, Reggie Lambe picked up a yellow card in Cambridge United’s 2-0 defeat away to Northampton in Sky Bet League One on Saturday. Both goals came in the first half as Harry Smith’s fine finish and an own goal from George Taft handed Northampton the win.

Several Bermuda players had matches called off at the weekend because of the bad weather in England, including Jonté Smith’s Cheltenham Town, Osagi Bascome and Justin Donawa’s Darlington in the Vanarama National League, and Milan Butterfield’s Kidderminster Harriers, also in the National League.

Nahki Wells’s Queens Park Rangers take on Brentford at home today in the Championship. Wells has scored six goals in his last seven games for the West London side.
