Rangers set for midweek cup-tie with Town
The final FA Cup quarter-final spot will be determined on Wednesday when Southampton Rangers meet Dandy Town at Goose Gosling Field in the remaining first-round tie.
Dandy Town had been initially given a bye when Rangers were booted out of the competition for failure to pay their annual membership fee.
Rangers appealed against the sanction, as they felt that the procedure was unfair; however, the BFA Appeals Committee upheld the sanction after it was decided unanimously that the appeal was without merit.
The Premier Division club continued their fight taking their case to the Alternate Dispute Resolution arbitration panel at the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation, who then ruled in their favour.
Rangers and Town will now battle to join the seven teams already through to the quarter-finals — holders Robin Hood, PHC, North Village, X-Roads, Somerset Trojans, First Division leaders St George’s and Devonshire Colts.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for February 15 and 16.
