Wells wins monthly award
Nahki Wells has joined four Bristol City team-mates in the Sky Bey Championship Team of the Month for January, with the Bermudian being selected after his outstanding form last month while on loan at Queens Park Rangers.
Wells, who made his debut for City against QPR last weekend after joining the club for £4 million from Burnley, had a fantastic start to the new year, having a hand in more goals (five goals and one assist) than any other player in the league.
Wells joins his new team-mates — goalkeeper Daniel Bentley, who kept four clean sheets in a row, defenders Nathan Baker and Jay Dasilva and midfielder Jamie Paterson — in the Championship team.
He completed his permanent move to City last Thursday after two seasons on loan at QPR.
Wells will be challenging for a first start when City host Birmingham City on Friday.
Lee Johnson, the Bristol City manager, is happy with the way Wells has settled in at the club.
“It’s non-offensive to the other players because he can play in any style we want,” Johnson told Bristol Live. “The early signs have been good both in training and against QPR.”
Wells, who has kept the No 21, will now compete with the likes of Andreas Weimann and Famara Diedhiou for a starting place in City’s attack.
