Clinical Robinson hits five
PHC Zebras 7 Boulevard 2
PHC Zebras thumped Boulevard 7-2 at home yesterday to continue in the rich vein of form that has helped them move from the brink of relegation concerns, to a firm position in the top half of the table.
Boulevard managed to stay in the match with both their goals coming in timely situations, but PHC captain Cecoy Robinson led by example, bagging five goals in a clinical display in front of goal.
“It was just one of those games where the ball was falling in the right positions and the goal started to look bigger with every finish,” Robinson said.
“More importantly the team is playing with confidence and we have got back to doing the simple things well.”
PHC broke the deadlock in the 29th minute as Tre Ming combed with Kadeem Abraham just inside the box and smashing the return pass into the top corner.
Boulevard replied with an equaliser almost immediately, through Zaire Burchall, who drove his shot past the goalkeeper after receiving a through ball from Jason Symonds.
Zebras restored the lead just before half-time when Robinson was on the end of a Ming cross to nod home at the back post.
Robinson then doubled his tally right after the break as he stroked home a square pass from Marco Warren from the right side.
The visiting side were showing signs of falling apart at this point, but were given hope when Burchall was fouled from behind just inside the box to earn a penalty.
Symonds stepped up to take the spot kick, which was initially saved by goalkeeper Coleridge Fubler, but Enyche Zuill was the first to react, stabbing home the rebound to make it 3-2.
Any hope of a comeback the goal offered was short lived as Robinson was at it again in the 68th minute, firing home his hat trick from close range.
Keishon Bean then got in on the action, planting his left footed shot into the bottom corner.
Boulevard were now visibly beaten but Robinson was not yet done. The striker grabbed his fourth and fifth, receiving the ball deep inside the penalty area and finishing sharply on both occasions.
