Opportunity missed by title hopefuls Colts
Leaders Devonshire Colts squandered an opportunity to clinch the First Division title in their final outing of the season against St David’s at the weekend.
The two sides battled to a 1-1 draw at Lord’s where Chemarl Henry and Kontai Burton traded goals. Colts, who have a bye in the final round of league matches this weekend, are also bidding for the First Division “double, having won the Shield via a emphatic 4-1 win over Flanagan’s Onions at Somerset Cricket Club on New Year’s Day.
Meanwhile, St George’s kept their title hopes on track after cruising to a comfortable 3-0 win over Flanagan’s Onions at Goose Gosling Field via goals from Samori Greenidge Saltus, Jahkai Brangman and Damon Darrell.
St George’s, who trail Colts by a point, can clinch the title on their home turf with victory in their final match of the season against Vasco at Wellington Oval on Sunday.
The East Enders romped to an emphatic 5-0 win over Vasco in the first league meeting between the two sides at Bernard Park last December.
