LeiLanni Nesbeth is the leading scorer for second-ranked Florida State University after netting her fourth goal of the season in their 4-3 win over the University of Virginia in Charlottesville on Sunday.

Nesbeth opened the scoring again for the Seminoles, this time netting in the eleventh minute with a firm shot into the roof of the net from 12 yards after a cross from the right.

Two minutes later, the Seminoles doubled their lead on a goal from senior Clara Robbins after a good build-up from midfield. Virginia reduced the deficit in the 34th minute from an Alexa Spaanstra penalty. FSU regained their two-goal lead in the 42nd minute through an own goal off a Zhao Yujie corner.

The goals kept coming with Virginia making it 3-2 in the 58th minute on a goal from Diana Ordoñez, marking the first time this season that the Seminoles have conceded more than one goal in a game. Virginia then tied the match at 3-3 in the 64th minute off an own goal from a corner.

However, the Seminoles secured the win in the 81st minute from yet another corner, when Robbins scored her second from a goalmouth scramble.

The win marks the eighteenth time in 24 meetings that a Florida State-Virginia match has been decided for a single goal.

Florida State are off this weekend before they complete the regular season at home to Duke on October 29 and Clemson three days later.
