Wells plays his part as City climb to second in the table
Nahki Wells had a hand in his Bristol City’s winner as they secured a 1-0 victory away to Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship yesterday.
Chris Martin’s early strike earned the visitors their second league win in three days to catapult them into second in the standings ahead of the weekend’s remaining fixtures.
The forward turned in Antoine Semenyo’s cutback inside the second minute, with his first league goal for the club enough to earn Bristol City a Severnside derby win at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Wells spread the play to Jamie Paterson who fed the overlapping Semenyo whose cross was delicately turned over the line by Martin.
The home side fought back but Wells and his team-mates held on to secure three points.
Bristol City were without striker, Famara Diédhiou, who was ruled out after testing positive for Covid-19.
The 28-year-old Senegalese striker and his wife tested positive for the novel coronavirus on November 4 and are now in self-isolation for ten days.
In line with the most recent EFL guidance regarding testing on the development of relevant symptoms, the Diédhous were subsequently tested and returned positive tests.
