BFA gets in the Christmas spirit
The Bermuda Football Association got into the festive spirit by helping to spread some Christmas joy among its members at the weekend.
The association held a merchandise giveaway at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence on Saturday, when various football items they had in storage were given away freely to their respective member clubs.
David Sabir, the BFA general secretary, said the association was “satisfied” to see the clubs benefit from the kind gesture in particular during the festive time of the year.
“On Saturday, December 19, the association did a nice thing of sharing some of the inventory that we had in our storage with our clubs and we had all of our clubs come by the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence,” the former Somerset Trojans defender said.
“Observing all of the necessary Covid-10 protocols of distancing, limiting to ten people in one area at a time, hand sanitisers, face masks, we were able to give away quite a bit of footbal- related items such as footballs, portable pop-up goals, football boots, T-shirts, bibs, socks, pads, you name it.
“Our clubs were very grateful, very happy to receive these things, and certainly the association, being in a position to do it at this particular time of the year, was very satisfied to see that everyone was happy and benefited in some way with the items that all would’ve been useful for their programs.
“It was a very happy day; a very fulfilling day for all involved.”
Asked if this was the first time that the BFA had held such an event, Sabir added: “The association, from time to time, has provided various items to our clubs.
“But this might be one of the recent memories where we’ve been able to give away quite a bit of football stuff that had been in our storage to all of our clubs.”
