Four assistant referees heading off to Dominican Republic for Caribbean under-14 tournament
Four Bermudian referees have been selected to officiate at the Caribbean Football Union Boys and Girls Under-14 Challenge Series in the Dominican Republic from August 22 to 29.
Assistant referees Natasha Trott, Amaury Majors, Clinton Hayward and Stefan Maybury fly out tomorrow and have been praised on their selection by Crenstant Williams, chairman of the Bermuda Referees Association.
“It is with immense pride that I am pleased to announce that four local assistant referees have been selected to officiate at the CFU Under-14 Challenge Series tournament,” he said. “The four officials have worked extremely hard over the past 18 months to ensure they were selected. They participated in weekly technical and fitness training sessions.
“This group of officials has shown the desire and hunger that is required to become an elite Fifa official. It is the committee's hope that they will inspire more persons to become involved in officiating.”
Williams added: “Refereeing now has a place in football here on the island and opportunities are available to persons who have the drive and the ambition to succeed. I would like to thank everyone who has assisted our four aspiring officials in their journey. It has been a long and exhausting process, and now we are close to seeing the fruits of their labour. The Referees Committee is optimistic that we will be making additions to our Fifa list in 2022.”
