LeiLanni Nesbeth has two assists in Florida State win
LeiLanni Nesbeth had two assists from corner kicks as Florida State University extending their unbeaten streak to eight games with a 4-1 win over Boston College as they started ACC Conference Championship play with a home win.
The No 1-ranked Seminoles scored the opening goal in the 48th minute when, from Nesbeth’s inswinging corner, Emily Madril scored after the Boston College goalkeeper failed to hold on to the cross.
Laura Flynn also benefited from a Nesbeth cross from a corner in the 55th minute, rising unchallenged at the far post to score with a header.
Zhao Yujie scored her second goal of the season, bringing her career total to 17 goals. She sits at 21st on the FSU all-time points list with 53. She has a total of seven points so far this season.
Zhao added the team’s third in the 72nd minute after latching on to a perfectly placed through-ball from Jenna Nighswonger and beating the goalkeeper at the near post.
Ran Iwai scored the Seminoles’ fourth and final goal soon after following a good play through the midfield.
Zhao received the ball and found Nighswonger on the far side of the field before Iwai ran on to the through-ball from Nighswonger and scored with a first-time shot into the upper corner.
Boston College pulled a goal back in the third minute of stoppage time from a penalty by Linda Boama.
Florida State are at home again on Thursday when they meet Pittsburgh.
