Hamilton Parish put six past Vasco in statement of intent
Tahjae Welch netted the season’s first hat-trick to inspire Hamilton Parish to a crushing 6-1 defeat of Vasco in their First Division season opener at Bernard Park on Sunday.
The striker converted in the fourteenth, 40th and 60th minutes in a match the visiting side dominated throughout.
Jordan Outerbridge and Shakeem Albouy accounted for Parish’s other tallies.
Forward Outerbridge netted in the 50th and 79th minutes and midfielder Albouy in the 59th.
Codie Lema replied for Vasco in the 49th minute.
Elsewhere, Ireland Rangers also had things their own way in an emphatic 5-1 win against Paget at PHC Field that put a damper on the latter’s return to the league from a two-year hiatus.
Chakote Basden led the West Enders’ charge, scoring in the second and 76th minutes.
Zico Seymour (80th) and Jahni Ratteray (83rd) were also on target for Ireland Rangers, who also benefited from an Mark DeCoute own goal in the seventh.
DeMarlo Curtis scored a consolation goal for Paget.
BAA got their season off to a perfect start after Cole Summers’s 27th-minute tally gave the home side a 1-0 win against St David’s at Goose Gosling Field.
Wolves beat hosts Young Men’s Social Club 2-0 in the remaining First Division match at Police Field.
Kyle Brangman and Jason Lee netted for Wolves either side of the break.
