Keziah Martin’s Kidderminster Harriers suffer promotion play-off heartbreak
Keziah Martin and his Kidderminster Harriers team-mates will spend at least another season in the Vanarama League North after having their promotion hopes dashed yesterday.
The hosts suffered a 2-1 defeat against Boston United in the Play-Off Eliminator at Aggborough Stadium.
The visitors broke the deadlock right on the stroke of half-time through a goal from forward Danny Elliott.
Kidderminster pressed on after the break and were rewarded when forward Ashley Hemmings’s 65th minute tally brought the teams level and blew the game wide open.
However, United regained the lead for good in the 76th minute when Kidderminster defender Alex Penny diverted an attempted clearance beyond goalkeeper Luke Simpson.
Midfielder Martin, who scored the only goal of the game in Kidderminster’s 1-0 home win over Darlington in their regular season finale at the weekend, played the entire match attended by a crowd of 3,921.
Boston United will now face AFC Fylde in the National League North Play-Off semi-final on Sunday, with the final to be held on May 21.
