Holders Devonshire Cougars and North Village will lock horns in a mouth-watering Dudley Eve Trophy semi-final clash.

The perennial rivals, who have 11 Dudley Eve titles between them, were pitted together during yesterday’s draw held at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence.

Cougars edged defending champions Dandy Town 2-1 the last time the competition was staged during the 2020-21 season.

North Village coach Kenny Thompson is relishing the occasion.

“It’s an interesting match-up,” he told The Royal Gazette. “Both teams started the season really well so far, so it’s a semi-final with a lot at stake.

“At the end of the day there are four teams in the semi-final and each team will feel they have a good chance of going to the final, so we are really looking forward to it.

“Of course we have to kind of look slightly down the road a little bit for that game and in the meantime concentrate on our next league match against Somerset.

“It will be an interesting period for us with the semi-final sandwiched between two league matches but we will be up for each match.”

Four-times champions Somerset and promoted Hamilton Parish will square off in the other semi-final, which will be played as a double-header at PHC Field on October 26.

Further details on the matches will be announced later by the Bermuda Football Association.

Meanwhile, Premier Division and First Division action continues this weekend.

PHC will host Somerset Trojans in a Premier Division contest at PHC Field tonight, beginning at 8pm.

Both teams head into the contest on the back of victories, with PHC overcoming Robin Hood 4-0 in the league on Sunday, while Trojans edged X-Roads 4-3 in a Dudley Eve quarter-final encounter on Wednesday.

There are also two First Division matches taking place today.

Somerset Eagles will do battle with Ireland Rangers in a West End derby at White Hill Field, starting at 12.30pm, while BAA will host Young Men’s Social Club at Goose Gosling Field, kicking off at 9pm.

Tomorrow’s round of Premier Division matches will see leaders Cougars and Boulevard doing battle against each other for the second time in four days.

Cougars prevailed against Boulevard 3-1 in the Dudley Eve quarter-final clash at PHC Field on Wednesday night and will now look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

“I am looking forward to another game the exact same way,” Cougars coach Kwame Steede said.

“It’s a derby whenever we play Blazers, so we are just looking forward to the game.”

St George’s will host Hamilton Parish at Wellington Oval while X-Roads will square off with league champions Dandy Town at nearby Lord’s, in St David’s, in the remaining top-flight matches.

Apart from tomorrow’s Cougars versus Boulevard encounter which begins at 6pm, all Premier Division matches are to begin at 3pm.

The remaining First Division matches will see Southampton Rangers host
Paget at Southampton Oval while St David’s welcome Shield holders Wolves to Lord’s, with both matches to begin at 12.30pm.
