Nahki Wells has hailed Bristol City;s impressive display in a 2-0 win away to West Brom in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday.

The Bermuda captain scored his seventh goal of the season with a well-placed header to add to an earlier strike from Joe Williams as his sider bounced back from two straight defeats.

Wells was delighted to continue his good form and feels that his side are “really good collectively” are keeping a clean sheet at the Hawthorns.

“I am delighted and it was a fantastic away performance,” the 32-year-old said on Bristol City’s Twitter account. “It was a real professional performance from the minute we went ahead.

“We were just delighted to keep a clean sheet to show everyone that we are a really good side collectively and we just have to try to do it more often.

“If you look back at big moments of the game, it wasn’t just our centre halves and the goalkeeper, I think everyone put their bodies on the line. We have to track back like everyone. That’s what it takes to win away from home and keep clean sheets.

With Wells and his fellow strikers finding the net with regularity, he is always confident that Bristol City have the firepower to scare teams.

“We’re always confident that we’ve got goals in our team,” he said. “We can go and win games by scoring but we just have to keep the back door shut.

“We are a side that if we can get in front, we have something we can really hold on to because like I said we are a threat going forward.

“It was nice to go in front early with Joe’s finish and then for me to get one right before half-time was really important as it’s a great time to score a goal.

“I was pretty confident once we was able to get the second that we could see this through.”

With manager Nigel Pearson blessed with plenty of attacking options, Wells knows he needs to keep performing to keep his place in the side.

“It’s good to have all of our forwards getting goals,” he said. “Antoine [Semenyo] probably would like to have more but trust me, he’s a talented individual and the goals will flow for him.

The victory over struggling West Brom lifted City to eleventh in the standings, three points adrift of the play-off places.

Wells hopes that he and his fellow team-mates can build on the result and make further inroads in their push for promotion.

“It’s time to try to build and try and put another run together and start climbing the table,” he said.

Nigel Pearson’s team travel to ninth place Reading, who they trail by a point, in the Championship on Saturday.

Also on target on Tuesday was Wells’s Bermuda team-mate Reggie Lambe.

The Stowmarket Town midfielder scored in his team’s 2-0 win away to Gorleston in the Isthmian North League.

Lambe broke the deadlock in the eighth minute with his fifth goal of the season before Joe Jefford added a second in the 67th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

Stowmarket are fourth in the league, level on points with third place Felixstowe & Walton United.
