Simmons twins recruited by title-winning Dallas College Brookhaven
Jahni and Jahde Simmons are the latest young Bermudian football players to be continuing their development overseas after being recruited for the Dallas College Brookhaven women’s team for next season.
The 17-year-old twins, who both play as forwards and have represented the national side at various age groups, will be following in the footsteps of compatriots Eva Frazzoni and LeiLanni Nesbeth in earning scholarships and making the move across to the United States.
The move represents an exciting opportunity for the pair with team recently successfully defending its National Junior College Athletic Association Division III crown.
Top-ranked Dallas College Brookhaven beat third-ranked Mohawk Valley Community College, 2-1, to achieve a first defence of the title and fourth overall in the programme’s history.
Brookhaven finished the season unbeaten, winning an impressive 16 games, only dropping points in a 1-1 draw against Dallas Athletic Conference rivals Dallas College Richland.
“We are excited to have committed to Brookhaven,” said the pair in a joint statement. “It is going to be a good opportunity outside of Bermuda football. We are honoured to be joining championship winning team.”
