Female spectator has broadcast shut down after filming PHC match
A female spectator at Saturday night’s top of the table Premier Division clash between PHC and St George’s found herself in hot water over her apparent contravention of broadcasting rights
With a cellphone perched upon a tripod, and having positioned herself in a chair near the halfway line on the western side of the field, the unnamed woman successfully captured the entire first half of the match, before she was confronted by a security officer and PHC club official while live streaming the match online, allegedly on a Facebook page, without permission.
The woman duly complied with the request and departed the area while the match continued with Bermuda Football Association president Mark Wade using the incident to caution spectators against the filming of matches, which contravenes BFA regulations.
“The BFA has a media rights policy in place,” Wade said.
“We are happy to see our member clubs enforcing it. Live streaming is an area that we continue to develop to promote football in Bermuda.
“There is an initiative in progress, with a goal of launching at the start of the upcoming season and any entity, be it a club, media house or individual wanting more information about the rights policy should contact the BFA offices.”
Those watching illegally on Facebook would have missed the end of the game, which featured PHC advancing their title aspirations with a convincing 4-0 victory over third placed St George’s.
