Paget Lions regained pole position as the First Division promotion race seems destined to go to the wire after beating Devonshire Colts 3-2 at Police Field on Sunday.

Diaje Hart put Paget ahead in the seventeenth minute before Keino Burch levelled in the 30th minute. Player-coach Antwan Russell restored Paget’s lead in the 47th minute before Dion Stovell added another six minutes from time to earn some breathing room.

Wolves bolstered their own hopes courtesy of a 4-0 demolition of lowly Ireland Rangers at Wellington Oval on Sunday.

Kyle Brangman opened the scoring in the twelfth minute to earn the home team a 1-0 advantage at the interval.

The game remained in the balance until three goals in the space of five minutes from Morricko Iris (68th), Sergio Richardson (71st) and Omeek Smith (73rd) secured the points for Wolves, who trail Paget by a point.

BAA’s title hopes took a hit in a 1-0 upset defeat at home to St David’s Warriors at Goose Gosling Field on Saturday night with Iyuan Smith grabbing the winner in the 28th minute.

BAA are two points behind leaders Paget and one shy of second place Wolves with two matches remaining in the season.

The remaining game featured Southampton Rangers thrashing Somerset Eagles 6-2 in a high-scoring affair at White Hill Field.

Jahni Bean lead the charge with a hat-trick while Dominic Hill, Ralston Wright and substitute Cardel Henry also got on the scoresheet.

Marco Basden and Ethan Fubler replied either side of the interval for bottom team Eagles.

Rangers jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead on goals from Hill (3rd) and Bean (14th and 20th) before Basden (27th) pulled one back for the hosts.

Wright restored Rangers’ three-goal advantage in the 38th minute to leave them in full control at the break.

Bean completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute with Fubler grabbing a second for Eagles on the hour before ubstitute Henry then rounded off the scoring nine minutes from time to put the icing on Rangers’ resounding win.

Fourth place Young Men’s Social Club, who trail leaders Paget by three points and second place Wolves by two, had a bye over the weekend.
