Bermuda fell to a 2-0 defeat against Guyana in their latest Nations League match. Reporter Patrick Bean has analysed the performances of every home player.

Dale Eve (Goalkeeper): Positioned himself well to make some quality saves, which kept Bermuda on terms during the first half. Stood tall in the face of unrelenting first-half pressure from Guyana, who attacked at will and were more than willing to test the Bermuda keeper whenever the opportunity arose, which was often. Eve’s – and so Bermuda’s – luck ran out in the second half, as he was helpless to prevent Guyana’s pair of goals. Rating: 7

Jalen Harvey (centre-back): Limited in his attacking forays after maintaining cover for a struggling Danté Leverock in the first half, a situation that finally broke open the Bermuda defence in the second half. Did not appear his energetic, free-flowing self due to his central role and was manhandled at times by Guyana’s captain and striker Emery Welshman. Rating: 6

Danté Leverock (centre-back): Adopted non-marking role in three-man defence, alongside Harvey and Twite. Inclusion was questionable based on not playing regularly throughout the season and his lack of match-play and fitness appeared as a liability in defence. Leverock was slow and an early knock that required treatment from the team’s physio did not help his mobility. Substituted early in second half. Rating: 4

Harry Twite (centre-back): Played confidently in the first half and defended his position in a manner beyond his schoolboy status. Youngster became unglued in the second half, along with the rest of the Bermuda defence, as Guyana unlocked the gate. Tackling was sure and Twite emerged as a real prospect with the youngster never appearing overawed. Rating: 7

Darren Usher (Right wing-back): Able to freely transition from defence to offence for much of the first half and got in a cross from the right that caused concern among the Guyana defence. Lost a bit of focus in the second and this lapse aided in the first goal for Guyana. Usher lost track of his man, Liam Gordon, and was unable to recover, being out-muscled for the header that gave visitors the lead. An early substitution, as he was replaced by Deniche Hill. Rating: 5

Daniel Cook (Left wing-back): Like Usher, forced more to defend than attack and it was his man who crossed the ball for the opening goal. Did show glimpses of his attacking ability along the left flank in the second half, but only after Guyana had gone ahead by two goals and were clearly content to defend a two-goal advantage. Rating: 6

Roger Lee (midfield): Looked out of sorts in his holding midfield position and struggled to contain Guyana’s play-maker Nathan Moriah-Welsh, who continually stretched Bermuda’s defence with his forward movement and fine passing. Lacked creativity going forward during the few moments such was possible, with his passing inaccurate. Rating: 5

Zeiko Lewis (midfield): Failed to stamp his authority at the top of the midfield and seemed to be more passively waiting to be served as would a forward, rather than demanding the ball and/or drifting back to seize possession and commence attacks. Replaced by Reece Jones Jr in second half. Rating: 5

Ahria Simmons (midfield): Much like his midfield counterparts, Simmons spent much of the time defending or playing laterally. Little creativity was displayed as he and the rest of Bermuda’s midfield were outplayed by Guyanese midfield of Nathan Moriah-Welsh, Elliot Bonds, Bayli Spencer Adams and wing-backs Jonathan Grant and Liam Gordon. Substituted in favour of Keishon Bean, who did manage to capture a hold of the midfield and instigate viable attacks late in the second half. Rating: 5

Jai Bean (forward): Largely ineffective up front because Bermuda spent most of their time on defence. Bean was a willing participant in falling deep to assist in gaining possession, but his insertion as a forward, attacking option alongside Nahki Wells demonstrated little in terms of cohesion. Rating: 5

Nahki Wells (forward): Largely unused and ineffective in possibly his last match for Bermuda. Got few touches in an advanced position and rarely appeared a threat to Guyana’s defence. Did cause some excitement among the crowd in the second half, when he wriggled free deep inside the Guyanese penalty-area, but was never in complete control of the ball. Rarely allowed to operate in space and consistently closed down when in possession. Rating: 5

Deniche Hill (substitute): Offered a glimpse of his attacking pedigree once introduced as a replacement for Darren Usher, bringing a rise from the crowd with a single attack that caused concern among Guyanese defence. Rating: 6

Reece Jones Jr (substitute): Came on as replacement for a lethargic Leverock and slotted in well enough, with no further damage being done in terms of scoring. Rating: 5

Luke Robinson (substitute): Replaced Zeiko Lewis, but failed to impact the match to any great degree in the playmaker role. Rating: 5
