PHC come out in solidarity to honour Marco Warren

PHC held a prayer vigil for late captain Marco Warren at their Warwick venue on Tuesday

Family, team-mates and friends gathered at PHC Field on Tuesday for a prayer vigil held for late captain Marco Warren.

More than 50 people attended the two-hour long event, where they paid homage and reflected on the remarkable legacy and life of Warren, who died on Sunday at the age of 29.

“The management thought it was fitting that Family Services came to give some help or someone to talk to regarding grief and how we move forward with not having Marco in our lives any more,” Kadeem Abraham, the PHC midfielder, said.

“We had prayer, aunt Wendie [Warren’s mother] spoke to us and people just talked about what Marco meant to them and shared memories and stories about who he was as a man.

“A lot of laughs and obviously some tears but more just a coming together as a family and guys just leaning on one another to get through this difficult time.”

“There’s no words really that can adequately describe what Marco was to the team and myself,” Abraham added. “As small as he was, he was a giant and was the heart and soul of our team.

“He was our leader, our teacher, friend and brother. If you needed help Marco was there, that’s the type of guy he was and is probably one of the best people you could ever meet.

“He is just somebody you can learn from and aspire to be like because he always gave it his best no matter what he was trying to do.

“Whether it was a free kick, a pass or learning something new or teaching a different tactic, he always wanted everyone to be at their best and he always trusted everyone to do their best.”
