Nathan Trott to continue loan spell in Danish top flight
Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott has returned to Danish side Vejle for a second loan spell.
Trott’s parent club, West Ham United, of the English Premier League, confirmed his whereabouts for the upcoming campaign on their official website.
“West Ham United goalkeeper Nathan Trott will return to Danish side Vejle BK for a second loan spell in the 2023-24 season,” the club statement read.
“The 24-year-old stopper enjoyed an outstanding 2022-23 campaign with Vejle, keeping 14 clean sheets in 25 appearances as his loan club secured the Danish first division title and promotion back to the top-flight Superliga.
“Now Trott will return for another year in Jutland to build on his experience gained with previous loans at AFC Wimbledon and French side Nancy Lorraine.
“Everyone at West Ham United wishes Nathan all the best for his second year on loan at Vejle.”
Trott initially played as a left back before switching to goalkeeper as cover for the injured Ajai Daniels while on duty with the Bermuda Under-15 team at a tournament in the Caribbean.
He went on to represent the island at various youth levels before relocating to England, whom he helped to win the European Under-19 Championship in 2017.
Trott also spent two years grooming his skills in Valencia, Spain, before signing with the West Ham academy.
The player, who also made 60 appearances for West Ham in the under-23 Professional Development League, signed a contract extension at the East London club last July until the summer of 2024, with a further two-year option.
He has been earmarked as a future first-choice goalkeeper and has also drawn high praise from Shaka Hislop, a former West Ham No 1.
The Danish Superliga season starts this weekend, with Vejle’s opening match away to Aarhus tomorrow.
