Nahki Wells scores four as Bristol City run riot in friendly
Nahki Wells scored four goals for Bristol City in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The Bermuda striker scored two goals in each half as his Sky Bet Championship side beat League Two side Newport County 8-0.
Wells, who recently announced he was stepping back from the national side to concentrate on his football in England, struck first in the 17th minute when he caught a County defender in possession and fired low and hard into the bottom-right corner to make it 2-0 to City after Sam Bell had opened the scoring.
Just 20 minutes later, Wells grabbed his second of the game when tucking in a rebound after Bell’s shot had been saved by the goalkeeper.
After City had gone in at half-time with a 4-0 advantage, thanks to a goal from Zak Vyner, Wells wasted little time completing his hat-trick when he deflected Alex Scott’s shot into the net in the 48th minute, with his fourth goal coming from the penalty spot just two minutes later.
Wells has just two weeks before the Championship season begins with Bristol City set to face Preston North End at Ashton Gate on August 5.
