Roger Lee rejoins Rugby Town
Roger Lee has returned for a second spell with Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side Rugby Town for next season.
The Warwickshire-based club announced on their Twitter page that the Bermuda defensive midfielder has rejoined them from Southern League Premier Central side Barwel, having agreed to the terms of a one-year deal that keeps him at Butlin Road until May 2024.
Lee was initially signed by Rugby Town in September 2015 and made only one start during a brief stay at the club.
The 32-year-old has played for a raft of overseas teams throughout his career also including the Indianapolis Greyhounds, Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon Town, Gloucester City, Stamford, Tallinna Kalev, Basford United, Corby Town, Jurnieks, Mickleover and Loughborough Dynamo.
Lee also played for Somerset Eagles and Robin Hood before moving to England in 2014 and joining Rugby Town a year later.
Rugby Town gained promotion to the Northern Premier League, the eighth tier in the English football pyramid, after finishing runners-up in the United Counties League Premier South last season.
The club are led by former Birmingham City player Carl Adams, who was appointed as manager in May 2018 and, like Lee, also featured for league rivals Loughborough Dynamo.
Lee made his international debut for the national team in 2008 in a Concacaf Gold Cup qualifying match against Antigua & Barbuda and has 34 international caps under his belt.
He featured for former Bermuda coach Kyle Lightbourne’s team that missed out on 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup qualification after finishing third in their group, above Montserrat only on goal difference with three of their four points awarded after Montserrat withdrew from the match between the sides last June.
Bermuda, who are still searching for a replacement for Lightbourne, will kick off their next Nations League campaign at home to French Guiana on September 8.
