Bermuda’s hopes dashed at Concacaf Under-15 Boys’ Championship
Bermuda suffered heartbreak after their title hopes went up in smoke at the Concacaf Under-15 Boys’ Championship in Curaçao last night.
Vashun Blanchette’s team went down 2-0 against St Lucia in the League B semi-final at the Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca to bring their impressive three-game winning streak to a grinding halt.
Bermuda will look to sign off on a brighter note tomorrow when they face Martinique in the third-place play-off.
The island’s youngsters suffered an identical 2-0 defeat by St Lucia in their opening group G match on Sunday.
However, they quickly bounced back with 1-0 and 4-0 victories over Aruba and Cayman Islands to advance to the knockout stage along with group winners St Lucia.
Bermuda then edged Belize 4-3 on penalties in an evenly fought quarter-final that went the distance to secure their spot in the semi-final, where they ultimately faltered.
Nicaragua edged Martinique 2-1 in last night’s remaining League B semi-final to earn the right to face St Lucia in the final tomorrow.
