Bermuda battled back to seal a 3-1 victory over Bonaire and secure progression to the semi-finals of the Caribbean Union Girls’ Under-14 Challenge Series in Antigua yesterday.

Having fallen a goal behind, Priya Denbrook equalised before Azea Burrows struck twice, the first coming from the penalty spot to complete the turnaround.

The win ensured Bermuda topped group B on nine points and confirmed their place in the final four.

Don Vickers’s side made a bright start, dominating possession and creating a number of chances, only to fall behind in the nineteenth minute.

Despite the setback, Bermuda responded superbly and soon found themselves level before the break as Denbrook slotted home after being picked out brilliantly by Avery Taylor.

Building on momentum, Burrows then took centre stage after the interval, scoring a brace to seal victory and all three points.

It was sweet revenge for Bermuda after they lost 1-0 to Bonaire in their second match of the tournament last Saturday.

With only four teams in group B, compared with the five that make up groups A and C, Bermuda, who went in to the final match top of the table, faced bottom-placed Bonaire, while second-placed Barbados took on third-placed Antigua & Barbuda again.

The winners of each of the groups progressed through to the semi-finals, where they will be joined by the best-performing second-placed team from the groups.
