North Village to take on PHC in Dudley Eve Trophy
North Village coach Kenny Thompson is adamant his side hold no physiological advantage over PHC Zebras as the two sides prepare to resume rivalry in the Dudley Eve Trophy on Wednesday night.
Village have come out on top in recent meetings, winning the season-ending FA Cup final and the curtain-raising Charity Cup.
However, Thompson does not believe those results will have any bearing on the potential outcome when the two sides meet again in a group A clash at Goose Gosling Field (9pm).
“There is no advantage and it is a new season, said Thompson, whose side have hit six goals in both Dudley Eve Trophy matches so far.
“It’s very early and every team is in its early evolving stage. Those matches don’t mean anything.
“Every opponent has to be respected. The Charity Cup was great to win but this is a new match in a different competition.
“Momentum is nice but we can’t live off of it. It’s important to focus on each individual match.”
PHC will also be aiming to continue their winning ways in the competition after registering back-to-back wins.
That highly-anticipated clash is the second of a double header at Goose Gosling Field, with Social Club taking on X-Roads in the preceding clash at 7pm, with both sides aiming to get their first points on the board.
