Nahki Wells out for several weeks with ankle injury
Nahki Wells’s season has come to an abrupt halt after the Bristol City forward picked up an injury in his team’s 2-1 defeat to Leeds in the Sky Bet Championship last weekend.
The 33-year-old was aided off the pitch at Elland Road in the 30th minute after Leeds captain, defender Pascal Struijk, fell on to Wells’s ankle during a challenge.
Wells has since been fitted with a protective boot as part of his rehabilitation, which could take several weeks before he regains fitness.
The former Bermuda captain was off to a decent start to the new campaign after scoring three goals in thirteen appearances in all competitions before his misfortune.
Leeds took the lead seven minutes after Wells left the pitch through a goal from winger Daniel James with City defender Kal Naismith equalising in first-half stoppage time.
However, Leeds would not be denied as Dutch forward Joel Piroe converted the winner in the 53rd minute to secure the points for his team.
