Boulevard Blazers are through to the first round of the FA Cup following a 1-0 victory over Somerset Eagles in the preliminary stage of the competition at Somerset Cricket Club yesterday.

In a match characterised by a number of missed goalscoring opportunities by both sides, Shaquille Dill tucked the ball into the back of the net eight minutes from time .

Michael Emery. of Eagles. wasted perhaps the best opportunity of the game in the opening half when he was put through from a long clearance and did well to round Boulevard goalkeeper Dekada Gilbert only to push the ball too wide, allowing the Boulevard defence to recover.

Just before the break Boulevard defender Anthony William-Smith sent his effort over the bar from close range, while his team wasted yet another chance nine minutes after the break.

Eagles fought hard and came close to taking the lead on a number of occasions only to be denied by the woodwork and with the match seemingly headed for extra time, their poor finishing came back to haunt them when Dill prodded home from close range to send his team through to the next round.
