Dandy Town captain Angelo Simmons grabbed a second-half winner to complete his team’s fightback and earn them their first points of the season at Goose Gosling Field last night.

The experienced forward latched on to Tomiko Goater’s through-ball and buried his effort without breaking stride to make amends for squandering a penalty early in the first half of this physical Premier Division clash.

Town were forced to chase the game after Social Club striker Jomeko Mallory was brought down in the area by Town midfielder Nizigh Spence and Ryan Parris sent goalkeeper Azir Harvey the wrong way from 12-yards to put the visitors ahead in the 59th minute.

Town pressed on and were rewarded when Jahzardae Samuels kept his composure after being picked out by Dante Leverock’s long ball forward under pressure and squeezed his shot inside the bottom left corner to bring the teams level.

Simmons then pounced a minute later to secure the points after Social Club were again caught off guard on a quick break down.

The visitors were denied what appeared a certain penalty when Town defender Mateo Issac handled in the area while the referee’s decision to award Town a penalty was also harsh on them as Simmons seemed to go to ground unchallenged.

SCORERS

Dandy Town: Samuels 65, Simmons 66

Young Men’s Social Club: Parris 59 pen
