Cougars strike late to beat Parish and book final appearance
Devonshire Cougars 2 Hamilton Parish 1
Emotions ran high after Devonshire Cougars scored two late goals to punish a wasteful Hamilton Parish and book a spot in the final of the Dudley Eve Trophy at PHC last night.
Jayari Fox scored midway through the second-half to cancel out Macquille Walker’s early opener, before Elisha Darrell struck late to send the Cougars to their second consecutive Dudley Eve final.
Parish had coach Sergio Goater and Samuel McKittrick were both shown red cards by referee Tashun Simons after the final whistle for foul and abusive language towards a match official.
Parish captain Walker opened the scoring with a smart finish, collecting a pinpoint pass into the box by Justin Bell, before rounding goalkeeper Alexander Ingham and slotting home to put his team into the lead.
From there on, Parish dominated and continued to miss several clear-cut chances, Walker, at the end of most of those wasted opportunities.
Fox pulled one back for the Cougars from a tight angle, before Darrell bundled the ball over the line six minutes before the end from a goalmouth scramble.
It proved enough to send Cougars through to the final where they will meet North Village.
