Bermuda awarded win after St Vincent no-show
The Bermuda women’s football team have been awarded a 3-0 victory over St Vincent & the Grenadines after their Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup qualifying match was cancelled on Friday night.
The team were forced to make late changes to their schedule after St Vincent failed to make it to the island when their flight was denied permission to travel on their intended route.
The decision by Concacaf to award Bermuda the win means the Lady Gombey Warriors head
into tomorrow’s final match in League B group B against Dominican Republic knowing they need just a draw to secure a spot in the play-offs.
Bermuda top the group on 13 points, a point ahead of tomorrow’s opponents, and should head into the match, which takes place in Santa Domingo at 6pm Bermuda time, full of confidence after winning the reverse fixture 2-0 at Flora Duffy Stadium in September.
