Nahki Wells involved in Bristol City’s win over Watford
Nahki Wells came on as a second-half substitute as Bristol City beat Watford 4-1 in a Sky Bet Championship fixture at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
Wells replaced Tommy Conway in the 77th minute in Liam Manning side’s first win at Vicarage Road in 12 years. It was their third consecutive win and tenth set of three points for the season.
By the time the Bermudian was introduced, the Robins were already 4-1 up.
Cheered by more than 1,000 of their fans, City got their goals from Cameron Pring, Wesley Hoedt (own goal), Mark Sykes and Andreas Weimann. Substitute Giorgi Chakvetadze had the only goal for Watford.
The win saw City move to 35 points and eighth in the league standings, two places outside the play-off spot.
Manning is pushing the side up the table after taking from Nigel Pearson, who was shown the exit door at the end of October.
Wells, with two league goals to his name this season, has just returned from a serious ankle injury in City’s 2-1 loss at Leeds United at the beginning of October.
His appearance against Watford was second after his return to action in a 3-2 win at home over Hull City three days before Christmas.
On the same day, Keziah Martin played 90 minutes in Boston United’s 2-1 victory over Harry Twite’s King’s Lynn Town, in a Vanarama National League North encounter. Twite was not in the match day squad.
Kane Crichlow started and featured for 58 minutes in Bishop's Stortford’s 2-0 loss to Peterborough Sports in the National League North.
Justin Donawa was absent when Altrincham went down 2-1 to Halifax Town in the National League.
Kole Hall was on the park for the full 90 minutes in Chester’s 2-0 victory against Warrington Town.
