Milan Butterfield rescues point for Nuneaton Borough
Milan Butterfield came off the bench to rescue a point for Nuneaton Borough in a 1-1 away draw against Leamington in a Southern League Premier Division Central encounter played on New Year’s Day.
The Bermuda midfielder, who was introduced on the hour mark to replace Prince Mancinelli equalised in the 79th minute with a low-driven effort beyond the reach of Leamington goalkeeper Callum Hawkins, just three minutes after Callum Stewart had put the home side in the lead.
The result leaves Nuneaton eleventh in the standings with 35 points, 11 points adrift of league leaders Mickleover Sports.
In the Sky Bet Championship, compatriot Nahki Wells continued with his return from injury when he came on as a substitute in Bristol City’s 1-0 defeat at home to Millwall on Monday.
Wells came on for Tommy Conway in the 72nd minute, but could do nothing to stop City from suffering their tenth defeat of the season. Shaun Hutchinson scored what proved to be the winner two minutes into stoppage time to earn the three points for Millwall.
Before the defeat to Millwall, City had been unbeaten in four matches, a run that included three successive victories to see them move up to within touching distance of the play-off spots.
Keziah Martin played 90 minutes in Boston United’s 2-0 win over King's Lynn Town, while compatriot Harry Twite was not in the Town match-day squad.
The third consecutive win has taken their points total to 39 and lifted them to ninth position in the Vanarama National League North standings.
In the same league, Kole Hall started for Chester in a 1-0 defeat to Warrington Town, while Kane Crichlow played 88 minutes for Bishop's Stortford as they went down to a 4-2 defeat to Peterborough Sports.
In National League South, Reggie Lambe appeared for 90 minutes in Braintree Town’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Chelmsford City.
