St George’s thrash Boulevard in lopsided FA Cup tie
Boulevard 0 St George’s 8
St George’s Colts thrashed Boulevard in a lopsided FA Cup first round encounter at Goose Gosling Field last night to clinch their spot in the next round of the competition.
Paul Simons, Kashe Hall and Jarreau Daniels all netted braces while Blaiz Hall and Tyrell Burgess scored one each for a rampant and dominant St George’s.
Boulevard were forced to play the final ten minutes or so of the match two men short having used up all of their substitutes when midfielder Dunn-Ya-Taylor and forward Khiry Easton were forced off with injuries which their Premier Division opponents ruthlessly exploited.
St George’s coach Jarraeu Hayward was pleased with his team’s performance, but conceded to being surprised to have encountered virtually no resistance from the opposition.
“We were expecting a lot of fight from Boulevard,” he told The Royal Gazette.
“I thought we stayed patient, just weathered their storm, played our football.
“We are starting to heat up so just good to get a good result, a shutout and get our goalscorers firing.
“We are just looking forward to progressing to the next round and next up X-Roads.
“It’s onwards and upwards from here and we have to stay focused as it’s a long way to go in the season.”
Defender Burgess doubled St George’s advantage in the fifteenth minute from another free kick.
Blaiz Hall then danced past several defenders inside the box before firing home to earn the east enders a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.
Striker Simons made it 4-0 in the 57th minute after rounding the goalkeeper and tapping into an empty net.
Daniels got in on the scoring act in the 64th minute when his free kick from the edge of the box took a deflection off a defender before crossing the line.
The midfielder added another two minutes later after getting on the end of Blaiz Hall’s cross.
Kashe Hall grabbed his second of the match in the 68th minute after dispatching another inviting cross from his sibling, before Simons completed his brace in the 81st minute to round off the scoring with Blaiz Hall again providing the assist.
