Nathan Trott open to stay with Danish club beyond loan period

Open to stay: Nathan Trott could stay with Danish side Vejle Boldklub on a permanent basis when his loan deal finishes at the end of the season

Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott has revealed he is open to staying with Vejle BK on a permanent basis with his contract at West Ham set to expire this summer.

The 25-year-old is currently in his second loan spell with the Danish top-flight side after enjoying a successful spell last season in which he kept 14 clean sheets in 25 matches to help the club win the NordicBet Liga title.

This season he has made 21 appearances in the Superliga, keeping five clean sheets, with the club battling at the wrong end of the table, sitting eleventh in the 12-team standings, eight points adrift of the relegation play-offs.

Despite previously stating he had no plans to stay in Denmark beyond this campaign, it appears he has had a recent change of heart, with Trott admitting to be “enjoying life” at the club.

“I’m not focused on my contract situation with West Ham right now as that would just be a distraction, so I’ll leave that to my agent,” Trott said speaking to Danish outlet Bold.

“I’ll just keep playing, and then we’ll see in the summer what my options are. Of course, I’ll have to talk to West Ham and look at my other options. It’s too early to say where I would like to play.

“I enjoy life in Vejle. The Superliga is a good league, there are many good teams and healthy competition. I wouldn’t mind staying for another season.”

Nahki Wells was introduced as a late substitute as Bristol City ended a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Swansea City in the Sky Bet Championship.

In a match of few clear cut chances, Rob Dickie netted the decisive goal in the 73rd minute, finishing a short-corner routine to give Liam Manning's team a timely win.

The result leaves Bristol City seemingly secure in mid-table having triumphed for just the third time in 13 league games to halt their worst run of the season.

Reggie Lambe put in a man-of-the-match performance to help Braintree Town seal a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Slough Town in Vanarama National League South.

In the same division, Justin Donawa played the entire match as Chorley maintained their promotion push with a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Hereford.

Jack Hazlehurst struck what proved to be the winner in the sixteenthth minute, to leave Chorley in third place on 68 points, ten clear of Curzon Ashton.

In the same division, there was no joy for Kole Hall as his Scarborough Athletic side slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to leaders Tamworth.

Hall, on loan from league rivals Chester, played the full 90 minutes as the visitors claimed all three points courtesy of Jordan Cullinane-Liburd’s 55th minute goal.
