North Village survive huge scare as Premier Division decider is on
The Premier Division title decider is on after North Village and PHC both won on Saturday to take the championship down to the final game.
PHC, who went into the weekend in the runner-up spot, knew that defeat could have ended their title challenge but they had little difficulty in beating already relegated X-Roads 3-1 at PHC Field.
However, North Village, who were ahead of PHC by just 1 point going into the 3pm games, survived a huge scare against Somerset Trojans to ensure they are in pole position going into the final game at Flora Duffy Stadium on Tuesday night (8pm) .
Village, who were down to ten men, were trailing 2-1 heading into additional time but they scored twice from corners, including a 94th minute winner, to grab a miraculous three points.
Trojans were just five minutes away from securing their Premier Division survival as they needed to win and hope that Young Men’s Social Club lost away to Hamilton Parish to stay up.
With Social Club losing 3-2 to Parish, Trojans’ will rue their injury-time capitulation and drop into the First Division.
