Warwick Football Academy under-15 team win treble after undefeated season
Warwick Football Academy’s undefeated under-15 team were awarded with three trophies at the Bermuda Football Association’s youth award ceremony on Sunday.
The talented teenagers won the triple crown, which includes the league, the Knockout Cup and the Lee Holder Cup, and Richard Todd, head of the High Performance Football programme, was quick to congratulate his side.
“A perfect season is not easily accomplished and requires a mixture of talent, a strong work ethic, commitment and unity as a group, focus and determination, and a little bit of luck,” Todd said.
“The team displayed a level of dominance in many contests, edging challenging opponents in tight matches, showed the perseverance and luck to succeed in penalty shoot-outs and the nerve to hold tight in the two matches they were stretched to hold on for a draw.”
It is a huge success for the Warwick Football Academy, which is in its first season, but its predecessor, the Warwick Archers, dominated the age division, winning six of the past seven seasons, and Todd is happy with the continued success.
“To maintain a high level of achievement year to year is not easy, but the programme has always taken pride in unapologetically developing a winning mentality and holistic drive to succeed in the players,” Todd said.
“Winning doesn’t just happen. It comes as a result of hard work, sacrifice, commitment, discipline, togetherness, and a desire to achieve & aspire towards success. These are the hallmarks of the values we strive to instil in our athletes, the characteristics for success in life.
“This team was guided by the coaching staff of Kieshon Smith and Omar Allen, and supported by the management of Nicki Horan and Joe Carolo. They have embraced the culture and values of the club, serving as role models for younger teams to emulate, and are fittingly deserving of all accolades and recognition coming their way.”
The Bascome FC Under-13 team and PHC’s under-18 side were also awarded their trophies for winning their respective leagues.
