Rego claims two titles in Bahamas
Christopher Rego capped off a month to remember by completing a double at the Bahamas ITF/COTECC Junior Tennis Tournament yesterday, beating Jorge Nunez of Mexico 7-5, 6-0 in the singles final, while also winning the doubles.Rego was quickly on course for the win when he broke Nunez in the first game and then held serve to go up 2-0The pair held service for the next three games before Nunez returned the favour and broke the Bermudian.But it wasn’t long Rego before tied up the set and from then on was in total control.He later teamed up with Dylan Hall from Barbados in the boys’ doubles final to win 6-4, 7-5 over Nunez and his Mexican compatriot Alan Valdez.Nick Lines won the all-Bermudian Consolation final against Tanner Boyle, 4-1, 0-4, 10-8.Rego also claimed victory in the Boys’ Under-14 singles final in last week’s ITF tennis tournament played on local soil by defeating Bermuda resident James Finnigan.The youngster won that match 6-0, 6-0 to land his first tournament title.
