Kids offered free lessons
Free tennis lessons for children under the age of ten and a raffle offering two tickets to next month’s US Open are new additions to the annual Argus Open which gets underway at the WER Joell Stadium today.The popular tournament, now entering its 12th year, will feature all of the normal categories men’s and women’s singles and doubles, mixed doubles, senior men’s and ladies’ doubles, and for the first time this year senior mixed doubles.Today’s teaching session for the kids will be from 10.00 am to noon, and parents can e-mail the name and date of birth to tournaments[AT]blta.bm.Tournament director Sarah Cook said: “We are excited for Argus Open, which promises to once again be the setting for the Island’s tennis players to battle for a place or improved position on the local rankings.“We are also delighted to be able to offer free tennis lessons to children under 10 years old . . . which I hope will encourage them to take up the game and keep active from a young age.”
