Albouy leads local runners at annual Peachtree race
Fifteen members of the Swan’s Running Club took part in the world’s largest 10K road race, the Peachtree 10K in Atlanta.It has become a tradition for a contingent of Bermuda athletes to join the 60,000 or so athletes who compete in the July 4 event each year.Mark Albouy led the way for the local runners, clocking a chip time of 49 minutes 17 seconds. He was 3,134th out of 57,754 finishers and was 90th in his age category. Next across the line for Swan’s was Derek Ming in 51.17.The best age category placing for the club was achieved by Zina Jones, the third of the Bermuda runners to finish. She ran a time of 52.39 and was 52nd in her division.The other finishers for Swan’s Running Club were: Vernon Tankard 57.25; Mayberline Black 59.50; Elvin Thomas 60.11; Vic Ball 60.42; Christine Joell 61.57; Paula Outerbridge 63.31; Florence Sharpe 66.47; Kathi Rogers 67.55; Joy Smith 73.21; David Smith 81.00; Edwina Arorash 86.09; Donna Mae Arorash 86.10.
