Squash boys beat Jamaica
The Bermuda boys junior squash team won their first team match in the Caribbean Junior Championships, beating hosts Jamaica 3-2.Under-13 Dylan Pratt lost to Alex Wight in the first round, but Under-19 number two Beau Orchard defeated Josh Mahfood to tie up the teams’ scores.Under-19 number one Noah Browne then defeated his opponent Ashante Smith, giving Bermuda the lead. But Under-15 Ryan Hopkins fell to Stephan Morrison, leaving the teams tied at two all heading into the final match.D’Vario Thompson came through for the team, defeating Jake Mahfood to complete Bermuda’s 3-2 win over Jamaica.The girls played their second set of matches Monday evening, losing 4-1 to the Guyanese, the reigning champions.Under-13 Olivia Lindsey started the team’s matches with a 3-2 win over Rebecca Low. But Lindsey’s was the only win for the girls’ team against Guyana. Under-15 Tiye Williams, Under-17 Emma Keane and Under-19s Alyssa Brewer and Alex Marshall each lost to their opponents 3-0.
